Consultation for Abu Dhabi Spatial Data Infrastructure Initiative (AD-SDI), Abu Dhabi Systems and Information Center (ADSIC), UAE (May 2009 – August 2009)
GISCON was subcontracted by GPCI, Inc., USA, to look after the Spatial Data Projects Track and the Community Development Track of the AD-SDI initiative of Abu Dhabi Emirate. The consultation mission to Abu Dhabi included the assessment, identification and documentation of all projects, planned and on-going, of Abu Dhabi governmental organizations that produce any kind of spatial data or alike. The main purpose was to ensure that such projects follow the AD-SDI standards and to reduce redundancy and duplications.
GISCON Consultant was also responsible for the Community Development Track, in which a series of specialized working groups were established with the over all purpose of developing the industry standards in their respective field of specialty. Examples of established working groups are the 3D-City Model working group led by Abu Dhabi Municipality, the Hydrographic Data working group led by the Military Survey Department and the Land-use/Land-cover working group led by the Urban Planning Council of Abu Dhabi.
GISCON Consultant could also lead a set of successful coordination meetings between the various stakeholders of AD-SDI community and conducted a set of awareness workshops and seminars.
