Kuwait Integrated Environmental Information Network (KIEIN-III), Kuwait (July 2006 – December 2007)

GISCON, in cooperation with Kuwait GIS, Kuwait, and Icon Technologies, Egypt, won the tender of the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) and the Ministry of Planning of Kuwait for the implementation of phase III of the Kuwait Integrated Environmental Information Network (KIEIN-III) for the Kuwait Institute for Scientific Research (KISR). The project is aimed at the establishment of a KISR-Wide GIS enterprise solution composed of central geo-environmental database that accommodates the huge amount of data holdings available at KISR. In addition, desktop applications are to be developed on top of ArcGIS to allow the researchers inside and outside KISR to access such central geo-environmental database in an easy manner.

A selected set of KISR data are also published and made available to the public over the internet.GISCON consultants were responsible for the needs assessment analysis, project planning and design, quality control and capacity building of KISR staff. This 18-month project was concluded in December 2007.
