GISCON Middle East W.L.L. pools its GIS know-how for customers in the Middle East

As of June 1st 2012, the GISCON Group of Germany has a new home in the Middle East: the GISCON Middle East W.L.L. in Kuwait City. "The new branch will be the centre of our activities in the Middle East" says Managing Director Ahmed Talaat. "The mix of our on-site team of Arabic speaking consultants and international experts offers our clients in the Arab region nearby professional consultancy services". Talaat, who has already been in charge of this client sector for six years whilst based in Germany, is ready and enthusiastic to lead the team of five consultants in Kuwait.

"Our permanent presence in Kuwait City will guarantee more intensive support of our customers in the Middle East, whose projects predominantly deal with the integration of comprehensive GIS know-how in large organizations and authorities", explains Talaat. GISCON already has contracts with the Ministry of Finance, the Environment Public Authority and the Central Statistics Bureau in Kuwait, as well as ArRiyadh Development Authority and Al-Hassa Irrigation and Drainage Authority in Saudi Arabia, and various small contracts in other Gulf states. The service portfolio ranges from GIS strategic planning, consulting, system integration and development of Spatial Data Infrastructure (SDI), to the training and capacity building in GIS, Remote Sensing and GPS. That is why a constant presence of highly qualified consultants on site is essential for successful market participation.

"We view our chances in the Middle Eastern market as very positive. The public sector in the region is keen for the introduction and utilisation of geo-information systems. With our know-how, obtained over many years, and our excellent team of experts, who are also integrated in an international network of partners, we will provide significant support for these processes", comments Talaat.
